Small Bathroom Solutions (Bay News 9's Mrs. Fixit)

TIP 1 - Install a ledge shelf. They take up almost no room but will hold jars of cotton balls and swabs. It can also hold lotions, hand towels or some toilet tissue.
TIP 2 - If you don't have the wall space try some box shelves. They'll take up less space but you can use the inside and the top of each box for storage.
TIP 3 - You could also store a couple of rolls toilet tissue on a standing paper towel holder on the back of the toilet tank, or get a little holder that hooks over your tank to hold a spare roll.
TIP 4 - Instead of hanging a towel bar, use a series of hooks. They give you more room and versatility because you can hang towels, robes, or even hairdryers and curling irons.
TIP 5 - If you're doing a remodel, choose a pedestal sink or a low profile vanity cabinet like this one. Either will free up floor space and make the small space appear larger.

Window Washing Tips (from BayNews 9's Mrs. Fixit)

TIP 1- Grab a clean sponge with nice squared off corners. Those corners are the key to getting the windows cleaner and streak free.
TIP 2 - Dip your sponge in some rubbing alcohol or a 50-50 white vinegar and water mixture and wring it out well.
TIP 3 - Push the corner of the sponge into the corner of your window and pull the sponge across the top of the window. Then repeat working down each side and then the bottom, and finally the center.
TIP 4 - The sponge allows you to push the cleaner into the corners while working just as hard pulling excess cleaner off the surface.
TIP 5 - This method coupled with the evaporative cleaner will leave you with a clean, streak free surface.

Are you drinking safe water?

Want to find out if your tap water is safe to drink? Check it out at the EWG National Drinking Water Database. They compile data from most water suppliers and show what contaminants have been detected by mandated tests in your area. They recommend filtered tap water rather than bottled water; read their Tips for Safe Water and their FAQs for some eye-openers.—Kim Komando [category health]
